For The dark Knight rises the director uses cutting rate- where the shots move fast between each other add a sense of shock, surprise of emphasis on something, by doing this it makes the audience feel like they are missing out even if they blink.
The whole inception movie is not in narrative order, but instead of making it obvious that they are back in time by changing colour time or blurring the screen a bit they just changed back to past, this is done to test the audience and to make sure that the audience is paying attention.
Cinematography:
In both movies they are approached differently in a manor of withholding information at the start this is done through the use of close up shots on one of the main characters with the mask on his face. The technique of a wide shot is used where they are and how dangerous it is for the men heads to be hanging out the window. A mid shot is used to give sympathy to the men covered with a bag because they don't know what is going on while the other guy is pointing a gun a gun at home-an ECU cannot be used because the victims face is not seen properly.

In inception the first thing we see is the waves at a mid level with the camera, this gives the feeling that the audience too is in the water. A mid shot of the two gun in the scene which shows danger and it shows that both men are as dangerous as one another, but one has a pistol which is a hand gun and makes the audience question why he has it. The extreme long shot if the other guard is used to show how big the place is and that it is a protected place that is always under watch all the time. An ECU of the pendulous is used this then gives it a higher importance rate compared to anything else, this is ironic because it is such a small thing but it holds the power in this movie.

Sound:
In the movie inception the ambient sound of the waves suggest that the character is near the sea, with creates a mysterious atmosphere which then comes along with the feeling of being isolated because we see that the character doesn't know the place which then makes the audience sway towards him. The use of the sting emphasizes the bland/frivolous atmosphere created by the presents of that certain object. The high pitched stringed instruments create a serious mood. This will create questions towards the audience as they don't know what the object is/does or means to the characters.
As well as batman the ambient sounds are used to show the plane passing by the calm mountains which is then crossed out by the shouting in the plane to create havoc and wonder why all the ambient sound was disrupted. The music is slow paced but then giving a sense of something is soon going to erupt.
Mise-en-Scene:
The opening scene of inception uses mise en scene in a very powerful way to hint at major plot points revealed later in the movie. This is very clearly shown through the prop of the spinning top, found on the near unconscious body of the man on the sea. This is shown in the fact that the spinning top is never shown to stop spinning, and the next editing cut is to three characters in almost the same position, in a place which is quickly confirmed to be a dream.
The older man has much more confidence in his body language as he is younger and seems more powerful. This is done through maintaining the same setting, being literally the same room, and keeping the same orange hue and lighting fixtures as the first scene. The wine glass next to the Asian man is also kept from scene to scene, along with the idea of someone eating. The costume is also very similar between the scenes, further showing this idea.
From the beginning of the interrogation scene it's instantly portrayed as a comfortable yet very unsettling scene, it starts off with using high key lighting which misleads the audience to think positively. The sound of the door opening strongly is obviously diegetic, this adds to the eeriness and unsettling mood the creator/s have meant to create.
